Ganesha Shrine, Akshardham Temple

History

The Sacred Ganesha Shrine within the grand Akshardham Temple complex is a special place where Devotees worship Lord Shree Ganesha as the Remover of Obstacles and the Bestower of Wisdom. The Akshardham Temples were established under the guidance of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

The central Akshardham in New Delhi was inaugurated on 6th November 2005 and is recognized as one of the largest Hindu Temple complexes in the world. Alongside the main Sanctum of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the Temple complex also houses beautifully sculpted Shrines of several Deities, including Lord Shree Ganesha.

The Sacred Ganesha Shrine highlights the Divine Role of Lord Shree Ganesha in Hindu Dharma as the One invoked before all auspicious beginnings. The intricate carvings on the Shrine depict the stories and symbolism of the Divine Son of Maa Parvati and Lord Shree Shiva.

The same reverence is carried to other Akshardham Temples worldwide—including those in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), London (UK), Atlanta (USA), Robbinsville (USA), and many more global locations—where Lord Shree Ganesha is enshrined as part of the sacred pantheon.
